The Nottingham chapter of Greenpeace are holding events throughout the week, hoping to prompt more engagement with their activism and continuing the conversation about environmental issues that Nottingham, and indeed, the world, are facing.
Nottingham Greenpeace open their Natural Discourse exhibition tonight, with the launch party kicking off from 6:30pm at Surface Gallery. There will be poetry, music, and vegan food from Snienton Market's Foragers Kitchen.
The Met Office have described this first week of April as "a week of higher-than-average temperatures" for the period. Individual temperatures can swing wildly from day-to-day, as we saw on Tuesday, which is why averages are used for monitoring trends. Looking at the mean temperature between 1961-1990 compared to 1991-2020, there is a clear trend in more areas of Britain seeing warmer temperatures.

This issue does not only affect Britain. In fact, we're mercifully less impacted compared to some other countries. An exhibition at the Contemporary is showing how coastal communities in Pakistan are especially affected.
Last April Nottingham Greenpeace hosted another art event at Nottingham Society of Artists. Andy Parsons, group coordinator for the campaigners, said, “Our exhibition last year was a really cool space for people to come together to share stories of climate devastation from abroad and internationally but also get the views of local people who are using art to express their experiences and the impacts of climate change nationally.”
