Around fifteen artists will open their houses for the Lady Bay Arts Festival which runs over this weekend, as 26 venues display art from the people of Lady Bay. Lady Bay Primary School is hosting arts and crafts for children throughout the weekend.
Lady Bay Arts, a not-for-profit and Community Interest Company, has been running this kind of event since it was known as Lady Bay Open Studios back in the 1990s, and has expanded since. It's not an unusual event for the area, whose community also puts together the Lady Bay Open Gardens.
The Creativity Fund has also returned this year. Money raised for the event is used to commission a new piece of work from a young or emerging artist. They also help link them up with a mentor for the project.
The event is self-funded with the route map costing £5. It can be collected from the starting points of 1 Trent Boulevard (here, sponsor of the event Nottingham Rugby Club are allowing free parking), Lady Bay Primary School, Lady Bay Church and Halls, or The Poppy & Pint. The venues are accessible from 11am until 5pm on both days.
