The annual Framework Community Network meet is tonight; the social event is intended to be a relaxed gathering of those who care about the mission of Framework, the housing and support charity. The organisers are turning the evening's focus to Nottingham Recovery Network (NRN) who will be giving an introduction to their work, as well as a Q&A.
Across the East Midlands, Framework provide support around combatting homelessness through social housing and other preventative measures: they help finding and keeping jobs and have psychologists to work through mental health treatment plans. Like Emmanuel House, they too are seeing an increase in people dealing with severe multiple disadvantages. This kind of work, they say, cannot be dealt with one issue at a time, but needs a holistic approach.
Partnered with Framework are the NRN who offer a more local and specialised serviced: they focus on those in need of support due to alcohol and drug abuse in Nottingham City. Aligning with Mental Health Awareness Week, the NRN have guidance for those who are close to someone experiencing addiction problems too. "You do not need to manage this alone," the NRN said.
Lindsey and Damien from NRN will be on hand tonight to ask more about their experiences at the charity.
Framework are also keen for people to attend and find out how they can get involved as volunteers. The Framework Fundraising Team will be there with information on their upcoming events, like this year's ultramarathons or an overnight trek around Snowdon.
The event tonight will have light refreshments provided. It starts at 5:30pm at the Portland Centre. It is free but booking is essential.
