Decent cycling weather; a brand new coffee shop (with free coffee!); Panthers take home the Continental Cup.

Sunday, 18th January 🥇
The Panther's on-ice and off-ice team gather to celebrate.

We'll be topping out at 7 degrees today and hanging around just below that at 5 degrees for most of the day (and night for that matter). It will rain around 8am and probably lasting until lunch, but nothing extreme. I wouldn't worry about wind either. Not too many layers required for cycling.

Today is the opening of Bonincontro Italian Coffee on Pelham Street. According to their Insta, you'll find authentic Italian vibes, freshly baked pastries and a special offer for today only: a free hot drink for everyone who pops in. The pastries are certainly the highlight for The Morning Briefing. Go along and welcome them to Nottingham.

The Morning Briefing will make an attempt to be a bit more varied in the future, but for one more time... In ice hockey news, the Panthers once again reigned triumphant at the Continental Cup. The Motorpoint Arena was brimming with energy last night as they became the first British team to get this award twice. The game against HC Torpedo felt much higher calibre than the earlier games in the day and the Kazakhstan team put up a fierce fight. But with the Panthers' 42 shots on goal and Torpedo's 21, it's no surprise we won 4:2. Danny Stewart said they get a few days of rest now "before it's back to work this week" ready to get back into the Elite League schedule.
