Saturday, 17th January 🎉

Winter weather that's hard to complain about; the Continental Cup concludes today with tickets still available; Panthers show up and don't allow a single goal.

Saturday, 17th January 🎉
Karowice's seats were a block of yellow, broken up by the British flag they were flying.

The temperature will peak at 9 degrees today, but it'll mostly hang around 4 degrees throughout the day. If you're out in the morning you'll likely see a splash of rain, but the afternoon should be largely dry. The winds will be rather calm.

The Morning Briefing will at some point return to non-hockey news, but that day is not today. I recommend you do what I'm doing tomorrow: spending quite a lot of time at the Motorpoint Arena for the finals of the International Ice Hockey Federation's Continental Cup. There are three games today: 11am, 3pm will determine the bronze winners, and 7pm will host the silver and gold medalists. Good news: The Panthers are playing at 7pm and are in with a good shot at being the first team to ever win this tournament twice. Day tickets are still available and are very worth it.

Last night's game against Karowice was possibly the most fun I've had at a game so far. The energy levels topped even Steelers games and the Polish team contributed to that vibe in buckets. At least until the 3rd period where it became clear they were losing, at which point they lost a bit of steam. Jason Grande defended all 24 shots on goal. It was a clean, controlled game on both sides - though the Panthers managed to hold possession of the puck with a bit more tact.
