Rally for Ukraine: "There can be no peace while children remain stolen."
On Saturday, upwards of two hundred people arrived in the rain for a march through the city to once again ensure people do not forget that Ukraine is still embroiled in a war to defend themselves.
Speeches were given afterwards where many spoke about the children of Ukraine who have been affected.
Ann Vickers, a founder of CityHub Ukraine, said, "we have all been a child, and most of us have not had to think about our freedom, our safety, our existence. Unfortunately, the children in Ukraine over many years have been living on a knife edge between good and evil."
The United Nations estimates "that at least 20,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia".
"There is one truth that must ring out clearly, every child taken, every child deported, every child stripped from their family and identity must come home," said Michael Holod, branch chair of the Nottingham Ukrainian Cultural Centre. "There can be no peace while children remain stolen. Every child belongs at home in Ukraine, with their name, with their language, with their family. Bring them home."
A vigil to remember those lost was held earlier in the week.
