Pancake day arrives with few after-work places open
Pancake Day arrives in Nottingham; Warhammer painting hopes to improve youth welfare.
Very cold today: starting and ending at zero degrees and glancing off 5 degrees for a moment when the sun is at its highest. In conflicting news: the gritters have been out over night, but they're not expecting ice. (Maybe their job alleviates the ice!) Wind is dropping as the day goes on, starting with gusts of 16 mph now.
During the day today you can find many pancakes and waffles in places like Bill's, Pudding Pantry, Fluffy Fluffy, and Bear. But if you're want anything after work, you're low on options: Heavenly Dessert on Angle Row and Creams on Trinity Square might be all there is, and they tend to be on the sweet side. If I've missed your favourite pancake spot, get in touch at shane@morningbriefing.org.
In societal news, the Nottinghamshire Police force have organised a Warhammer painting event for at-risk youth. The 12 week programme hopes to build up community relationships and offer a safe place for socialising. The Briefing wrote about Base 51's efforts to do similar social activities, reducing isolating screen time. The Briefing hopes to report more on this story soon.
