Original Bramley tree going into private ownership

Blind Aces raise money for MSF; Historic Nottinghamshire tree (not that one) up for sale.

Original Bramley tree going into private ownership

4 degrees at best today, dropping to freezing by night time. The minimum road temperature will drop to -3.1 degrees according to Nottingham City Council, but I'm not too sure when that will be happening. Likely the early hours of tomorrow morning, so we should escape ice today. It has already rained this morning, which might have helped or hindered the ice. Be careful cycling out there today.

At the Canalhouse tonight you'll find the Blind Aces playing to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. They are a local band who I know most from playing covers at events around the East Midlands, covering tracks like All Along the Watchtower and Purple Rain. Tickets are £10 and the show starts at 7:30pm.

In arboreal news, did you know that the world famous Bramley apple originates from Southwell, just up the road from Nottingham? Even more interesting: the tree is still with us! 200 years old and in the back garden of a Nottingham Trent University owned house. That house is now up for sale, raising concerns about what the new owner will do to the historic trunk. The Nottingham Post has the full story.
