Stonebridge's Easter holiday timetable has begun. The city farm is now open on Mondays and an extra hour every day of the week. To make parents' lives easier over the next two weeks, each day includes activities costing £3 or less, alongside free entry to the farm.

Stonebridge City Farm will be running family-friendly crafting sessions between 10am and 2pm today, costing £2 per activity.

The farm's stock includes bunnies, Ryeland sheep, goats, Fife Canaries, cows, chickens, and Kevin, the farm's resident tortoise. This month saw the arrival of two Mangalica pigs, known for their curly hair.

The farm is a charity, with over 140 volunteers, and whilst their main workload is tending to animals, their primary purpose is much more human-based.

"We exist to provide a safe, open, reliable place where people can belong, contribute, and do work that matters. We use the discipline of a working farm to create routine, stability, and connection for people who are routinely excluded from mainstream services, education, and employment."

The longevity of the farm and charity is not a certain thing, with concerns around lack of funds and increased costs. According to their JustGiving donations page, their 2025 winter appeal has raised only 17% of its ambition, over a year on.

Hay and feed is a large expense for the farm. In 2024, the farm spent around £7,000 on hay and straw. In 2025, hay bales cost around £73 per tonne. In February this year, the price of a hay bale rose to £154 per tonne.

The Easter activities, the cafe and shops, and donations are a key income.

Stonebridge City Farm is open from 10am until 4.15pm each day during the next two weeks.

Correction: In the audio version of this article, we said that today was a the last day of March. Of course, it is not. We're stilling welcoming March for one more day after today.
