NCT fares increased by almost 30% for Easyriders
NCT ticket prices increase most for regular users this year.
Nottingham City Transport season ticket prices for buses, including prices for Easyrider bulk tickets, have increased this month. The change also reduces the maximum number of tickets that can be bought at once.
NCT said, “Following above inflation increases in our operating costs, including changes to taxation, we can no longer afford to offer the same levels of discount that our season tickets currently provide.”
2025 tax changes increased National Insurance contributions that businesses, including bus companies, are to pay.
CPT, an industry body for public transport, said, “The impact of the change was about £900 per bus driver per year, totalling £100 million for the industry as a whole [across the UK].”
New prices are available on the NCT website, which went live on 1st March but may not yet be noticed by season ticket users. A major change is that it is no longer possible to buy 50 or 100 days. Buying these tickets in bulk was a huge cost saving for commuters around Nottingham, especially on days where it is unwise to cycle.
20 days travel for an adult will now cost £4.85 per day, compared to the £5.50 on-the-day ticket. Still a discount, but a sharp drop in the value available last year: £3.75 per day when buying 100 tickets. In 2025, NCT stopped selling bundles of 150.
