More "Parcel boxes" appear across Nottingham
Not a comfortable cycle ride today, but not dreadful; NTU Big Band playing at Metronome; newly designed postboxes appear in Nottingham.
Starting at around 4 degrees this morning, but it will climb to 7 degrees by lunch time and hang around there, dropping only a little in the evening. There will also be a bit of rain in the morning, and later in the evening. The wind is picking up from earlier this week, but not too much.
Tonight, Metronome are hosting the Notts Trent Uni Big Band who will energetically be playing swing and jazz throughout the evening. Seating in unallocated so get there for doors open at 19:00 to bag a good one.
In postal service news, the modernisation of the humble postbox atually started in August last year, but it's only recently that they have started rolling out in force. They seem to be bursting out of their black, plastic cocoons all around Nottingham. The new initiative, the first change to the boxes in 175 years, allows you to scan your parcel and pop it in the box to get proof of postage. In a time when Royal Mail make more money from parcels than letters, the move seems a smart one.
