Lady Bay residents invited to apply for community grants
Residents and community groups in Lady Bay can now apply for funding, with grants supporting local projects ranging from garden planters to children’s performances.
The Lady Bay Community Fund is open to grant applications this month. The fund is available to those in the Lady Bay area to benefit individuals or groups.
In previous years the funding has gone towards planters for gardens, helping a fund print run of a local newsletter, building a wormery, and part-financing a performance for children.
The largest grant application listed last April - for a garden project at Lady Bay School - is still marked as pending. Maureen Mitchell, Secretary of the fund, told us they are still awaiting more detail about the application.
An application is considered based on its impact to the general area community. Though, there are restrictions on items businesses can use the funds for: marketing and insurance costs are amongst those not applicable.
The fund is open for applications twice a year, in March and then in October. A board of trustees review applications.
The fund is raised from donations given during the Lady Bay Open Gardens event, which runs in June. Originally in 1989, that money would go to FIELDS, a now dormant action force made to protect the green belt around Lady Bay.
