Heavens Gate Mansfield Road location emerges from hoarding
Queer comedy comes to the Lord Roberts; pet gravestone showroom to open on Mansfield Road.
The temperature is staying narrowly between 10 and 12 degrees today. There will be some rain during commute home time, but it may be the wind that puts you off from cycling today: from now onwards wind gusts will be around 30 mph, up to 35 mph over lunch.
Tonight at The Lord Roberts you'll find Queer Like Funny, a comedy cabaret show featuring stand-up acts and innuendo-filled silliness. There's a rumour of "famous interactive games" which gets me feeling a bit socially awkward already, but maybe we should all be stretching our sequinned wings a little more. Tickets are £8.50. There's a chance you can get them on the door, but guarantee your evening entertainment by getting them now, online.
In Mansfield Road news, rumours of the pet crematorium no longer opening are wrong. Hoarding had been around 209 Mansfield Road from early 2024 advertising Heavens Gate, a pet cremation service. When hoarding was finally removed earlier this year, revealing a rather unfinished looking building inside, locals assumed the Heavens Gate business had moved on. However, the Morning Briefing can confirm they do still plan to open a showroom at this location. Workers were painting the outside of the building this week. No actual cremations will take place here - they will still happen at their main location in Heanor - but you will be able to browse headstones.
