It will be warming to 8 degrees by lunch time today, and then sliding back down to 5 degrees during the evening. No rain, which is great as I've just got my bike back from being serviced. And even the wind is getting out of the way for a good cycle to and from work.

Tonight there are still tickets left for Nottingham Panthers vs Poland's Katowiche. The game starts at 19:00, and as always I recommend getting there 40 minutes early to see the warm up. You'll also be delighted to see two Zambonis working the ice today. This is part of a European tournament and a good number of fans have travelled to joined the revelry. Sources intimate with the Morning Briefing went to a game yesterday and report the fans were brimming with energy.

Sticking with ice hockey news - though this is mostly about catching up with news you may have missed: you may be wondering about Team GB in the upcoming winter Olymics. Bad news is that Team GB did not qualify to compete after losing the qualifiers in the third and final round. Similarly, the women's team fell at their last hurdle too. So no Team GB on the ice in Milano-Cortina this year, but it will no doubt still be a spectacle.
