Clocktower to become a "progressive" food hall with new management
The Blend Family are taking over the curation of food and beverage in the Victoria Centre Clocktower this summer.
7 degrees this morning, warming up to 10 degrees at lunch time. No rain again and quite low wind. A very good cycling day!
If you're in town for lunch today you'd do well to consider Chaiiwala - open in the Victoria Centre Clocktower from 8am until 11pm. I had the desi breakfast yesterday morning, featuring the tastiest daal I've had in years. As an eager journalist, I asked them what was in it but was told only that there "were lentils, and a secret mix of curried spices". Their karak coffee is a sweet desert-like drink, made with both milk and evaporated milk. This might be my destination for breakfast today too.

Still in food hall news, the Clocktower is set to get a revamp in summer which will be more than just a facelift. It has been described by the new developers as a "boundary-pushing and immersive concept". Renamed Clocktower Works, Itsu will be subcontracting running of the area to Blend Family (not the local coffee shop chain) who manage a number of food halls around the country.
The Blend Family have already announced that there will be "14 independent Food Partners". Currently in that area McDonalds, Subway, and Krispy Creme who aren't traditionally known to be independent.
Other food halls managed by the Blend Family are home to local vendors, often where it is there only venue. In their announcement, the Blend Family talk of their "commitment to curating spaces where independent culinary innovators can grow and thrive long term".
