Colombian circus troupe, Circus Zyair, has returned to Forest Recreation Ground this week with a new show for 2026.

The circus has more than thirty performers ranging from acrobats to stuntmen. One act in their repertoire, known as a Globe of Death, has five performers enclosed in a mesh ball, with each of them on motorbikes which they ride around at impossible looking angles whilst (hopefully) avoiding each other. Audiences will also be treated to clowning, high-wire acts, and feats of agility and strength.

There are no animal acts. Exhibiting wild animals like elephants and big cats in the UK is illegal, and Circus Zyair have confirmed the show is animal free.

Last night, the Morning Briefing toured around the slumbering circus grounds. Even in its waiting state, the circus is quite interesting to look at. The lights, which could be static, are instead glinting and highlight the big top tent against the evening sky. Although they're not technically on display, visible are the touring homes of the circus performers and staff, many of which are huge trucks.

The tent is in the west end of the Recreation Ground, near the park and ride. The park and ride is free, but only for those with a tram ticket. The tram is the easiest way to get to the site as it stops just outside, but there are also many buses along that route too. There is no good bicycle parking near the venue.

The show lasts for two hours with a brief intermission. Food and drink will be available.

There is an evening show tonight at 7pm, with more opportunities on Thursday and Friday in the same time slot. There are five shows over the weekend. Tickets are £15 generally, but try code NB50 when booking online and you may be able to get tickets for just £13.
