Boyes opens today, in former Wilko's store

Notts Pride Winter ball is today; and Boyes opens this morning.

Boyes opens today, in former Wilko's store
The building on Lower Parliament Street has been closed since late 2023.

The overnight rain will continue during the day and has cooled down our lovely warm weather. It's around 9 degrees now, and will drop down to 7 degrees by the evening. No wind though - so that's good.

This evening you can close out your LGBT+ History Month with the Notts Pride Winter Ball. This is a ticketed club night (or as they called "a big, gay disco") with money going towards keeping Nottingham Pride free. Drag royalty Marilyn Sane, Nana Arthole and Liv will be hosting the night. Tickets are £11.25 with an optional donation.

In high street news, you may have noticed that someone has moved into the old Wilkos on Lower Parliament Street. Boyes is a value store that have been taking over empty Wilkos around the country for some time, with stores open in places like Dunstable too. The Yorkshire brand has been around since the 1880s, and still run as a family business, which may have made them more sturdy than similar stores who are struggling. The new store is open today from 8:30am. They're also looking for new part-time sales assistants.
