BOHNS was slightly hidden away, underneath Brewdog.

No where near zero todays! The coldest we'll have is 2 degrees, up to 5 degrees. It has been raining during the wee hours of this morning, but will hopefully be stopping shortly. The wind is behaving itself again and has just now dropped to reasonable levels to be cycling in.

Tonight, in the Bakersfield Community Centre is a night of poetry and other spoken word goodness. The DIY Poets Quarterly Showcase is on at 7:30pm. There will be open mic slots for people to bring along their own words, as well as more artisanal words from Leanne Moden who has performed everywhere from Edinburgh Fringe to the Prima Vista Festival in Estonia. Entry is free, but you can grab tickets from eventbrite.

In restaurant news, BOHNS has suddenly closed down. Or rather, their landlord has closed them down after evicting them. In a message on Facebook, the Hockley burger place said, "we arrived to find our landlords had changed the locks without any prior notice." (We were unable to reach the landlord for comment.) BOHNS, which neighboured the Broadway cinema, was the home of the veggie Mac Bohns burger which did a great job of emulating a Big Mac. It's a sad loss and a reminder how independent restaurants live on a knife's edge.
