BBC Introducing East Midlands returns tonight
Metronome once again hosts the free event from the BBC, showcasing local talent.
Pretty cold at 4 degrees this morning, but 12 degrees later around lunch. No rain and fairly decent wind today. Quite similar to yesterday, with hopefully a few rays of sunshine.
Tonight at Metronome is the return of BBC Introducing East Midlands, where four, local, unsigned bands will perform tight sets. On the bill tonight are Seegz, Super Mega Death Robot, Vee Adu, and CJ Pandit.
Nationally, the Introducing platform has given dozens of artists more visibility, with acts like Ellie Goulding and Two Door Cinema Club getting boosts early in their career before they were attached to a record label. Locally, acts like Jake Bugg and London Grammar were discovered.
The night is MC'd by Dean Jackson who also hosts the show on BBC Radio Nottingham. Under Dean's curation, the radio show is put together with high-quality and well produced music - not bands very early in their career, but those who need that final push to reach the next stage of their career.
Dean's radio show also includes interviews with the artists. It's in those you can see his energy and passion in discovering new music and helping these acts grow. Music isn't the only place that Dean highlights local talent: another BBC show of his is Upload show which presents comedy, poetry, and other spoken-word pieces from East Midlands folk.
Fingers crossed that we also get the opportunity to learn about the bands playing tonight.
Tickets are free but must be booked over on the Metronome website.
