Last Thursday, the winners of the Power in Partnerships Awards were announced at Manahatta. The awards, presented by Base 51, highlight the charitable work of people and organisations around Nottinghamshire.

Young People's Champion was won by Joshua Cammack for his work with Lifeskills Education. The charity delivers programmes in schools from Years 1 to 9, helping children learn how to make better decisions and manage risk. Topics include safety around alcohol, the internet, and bullying.

The Rising Star award was presented to Shellie Warner, an Early Years Apprentice with Footprints. Footprints is a charity that supports children with disabilities or communication needs. For these children, skills like sitting, looking, or eating do not come as easily as they might for others. The charity works with parents to help develop these skills through holistic approaches.

Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Leanne Louch for her work with Forever Stars, a charity that helps families work through the heartbreaking loss of a child. They provide services for parents and siblings during the hardest parts of their lives.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative award was given to Mitchells of Mansfield. The transport company said, "Our local community matters. That’s why our whole team gets involved with local projects throughout the year to support the people and charities that are making a difference in Nottingham and beyond." They name two charities that they support, Nottingham Hospitals Charity and Armed Forces Covenant.

Corporate Social Responsibility Champion was awarded to David Ford, Director of Gleeds, a Nottingham-based global construction company. The company is vocal about its commitment to supporting the development of younger people entering the industry, including a focus on gender equality.

The winner of Social Value Initiative was Dominic Hayer. Dominic is Chairman of the British Indian Business Forum. The BIBF places strong emphasis on corporate social responsibility, and has supported organisations including Base 51 and Mencap.

This year's Social Value Champion was Penny Clemmow, who runs ScreenPop, a business networking group based in Nottingham.

The Power in Partnership award was given to Raleigh Education Trust. This charity focuses on preparing children for early adulthood, helping them develop independence and life skills for the future.
